The Japanese brand, Daiwa has been producing reels since 1955 with the ethos to create the finest quantity fishing equipment on the market. Daiwa still aims to produce the most technically advanced fishing equipment in the world. This is an aim that is routinely met, and Daiwa is a world leader in coarse, carp, sea, and predator fishing products.
A renowned big hitter, the 45 in Daiwa’s 19 Emblem name is to signify the 45mm spool, an optimum long cast profile size that is normally found on the more expensive Daiwa offerings. With a 45mm profile, which is known to be the ultimate size for reaching long distances, retrieval is geared down at 4:9:1, but still offers crank per turn of 104cm!
It is not just the spool size that makes this a great casting reel as Daiwa has furnished this reel with a reduced speed oscillation called Slow Cross Wrap, this both enhances line lay and decreases casting energy during line release. Along with this, the double lip profile to the LC spool has been shown to improve casting distances by up to 5%. The line is channelled to a narrow strip so it flies smoothly through your rod guides.
Like all decent big pit carp reels, the Emblem reel also sports Daiwas QD quick drag system so you can quickly adjust the drag from no resistance to full lock in a small turn, meaning when your bite alarm screeches, you’re not spending the first few crucial seconds twisting your drag wheel endlessly. This feature comes along with the HIP- high impact line clip which is chunky and nicely sprung so that you will not damage your main line when hitting the clip.
It does not stop there as Daiwa has also included its Air Rotor, Digi gear II internals plus a machine cut aluminium handle which is not only soft to touch but is super sturdy which will help you crank in 104cm of line for every full turn. Supplied with one spare shallow C spool, the Daiwa reel spare can hold 300m of 0.35mm diameter line, meaning you can fill two reels of bulk mainline.
Cosmetically, these reels look gorgeous with that sleek matt black finish that is certainly not going to be causing issues with reflection when the sun starts to shine.
